have dug my way through a box of photos this morning,my brother turns 50 on 10.2,making a fun photo / picture book for him along with his two sons and grandmother.we looked like this in 1990,when the exhibition was ready.teis and me.

sometimes i think about how much i done so fare.here comes a very complex and long post.these 18 citys was the basis for a major exhibition i once held,way back in 1990.even if it´s from another time,it´s still interesting,at least to me....i selected more ore less randomly the 18 cities.i had visited some,but most of them i jyst liked cause of the sound and "taste" of the city-name.it was all based on associations.remember i awoided the very famous metrololies and one country are presented by two cities.the project has it´s own strange logic, i would think : hmmmm. wonder how is smells in buernos aires today-and then start working.the best part of the exhibition was the finely-crafted objects and the table.in addition to this was 18 larger oil paintings.too heavy and they were about to kill me,remember i neended to paint the final two 5 days before the opening.

table was 600 cm. long,103 cm. wide and 92 cm. high. each city´s object was places on a glass plate,benaeth each object one could draw a plywood plate out,on this was printed the simple lexical facts about the city´s past and present.here we talk about a time before the internet,printed encyclopedia told the truth.i outlined the objects,table and performed them in collaboration with my brother.he is a divine cabinetmaker and furniture restorer :www.teisdichabrahamsen.dk remember we had our first meeting about the project,on the edge of an outdoor swim spa,in budapest.

C A L C U T T A : built over the hindufuneral rituel.corps lies with the feet to the east,so the soul rises towards the rising sun.object is burned in the butom,it`s the fire,piece of eucalyptus leaf enshrined in a circle.what we lacked was the sandelwood tree to complete.it was hard to get,i was told that it is sacred tree,not to be exported.one day i took a bike ride to second-hand dealers,to find something made of sandelwood,to by and cut my piece out.in a shop i met a sweet couple,originaly from india,the womans father was still in punjap,they wanted to help

H E L S I N K I : land of thousand lakes,birch wood with finely processed,high lacquered hollows,penetrated by a single strip of acrylic and two oval-shaped glass pieces.
